NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

NDT Inspections provides a wide range of non-destructive testing on site or in our workshop.
We continue to find the optimal solution for your project requirements.

ULTRASONIC (UT)

Ultrasonic testing (UT) is a non-destructive test method that utilises sound waves to detect cracks and defects in metals and welds. The thickness of the sample, the depth and type of flaw can be ascertained using this method. It has become a widely used test method in NDT due to its reliability and accurate measurements.

Because this method has higher power potential than other non-destructive test types, ultrasonic testing can produce images that are more clearly defined than other methods and indicate characteristics deeper than surface level.

STANDARDISATION
BS EN ISO 5817:2023, It specifies quality levels of imperfections in fusion-welded joints.

MAGNETIC PARTICLE INSPECTION (MPI)

Magnetic Particle inspection is a Non-Destructive Testing method for the detection of surface or near surface flaws in ferromagnetic materials such as steel and iron. Detection of these flaws is achieved by establishing a suitable magnetic field in the test article, applying magnetic particles to the surface which collects at the site of the flux leakage.

Magnetic Particle Testing is conducted in a range of industrial applications, with portable and non-portable systems.

DYE PENETRANT INSPECTIONS (DPI)

Dye Penetrant Inspection is one of the most cost effective types of Non Destructive Testing. It is used to locate flaws on uncoated, ferrous and nonferrous surfaces, which are open to the surface. With penetrant testing method, the component is coated with a visible or fluorescent dye solution and left to soak (dwell). Afterwards, the excess dye is removed and the developer, which acts as a blotter, is applied which assists in drawing penetrant out of imperfections open to the surface.
